KELSO—The kitchen was designed with two island units each with a solid cast and polished concrete countertop and white stained Birch plywood cabinetry. The larger of the two incorporated a ceramic sink with drainage grooves to one side, organic waste bin, undercounter waste sorter and dishwasher while the second was seen as serving and preparation area that subtly divided the open plan kitchen from the dining room with its projecting Oak shelf.
The breakfast bar and cabinets either side of the reclaimed Aga have wrap-around Scottish oak countertops and like the island units have white stained Birch plywood fronted drawers on soft-close mechanisms.
The neutral palette and raw materials of pale Birch, Oak and concrete was given an injection of colour by the vibrant green cabinets along the back wall.
This is the first of several projects for Jean & Clare De Bolle's Mainhouse Farmhouse near Kelso.
