Staircase & Ballustrade

Abbotsford Road—The staircase was constructed in 3 separate phases. The treads were constructed using the same Danish Douglas fir that was used throughout the house for flooring. It was treated using traditional Scandinavian lye and soap, which gives the wood a pale white colour.

The balustrade was later constructed and comprised an oiled Oak frame with vertical white stained birch plywood fins.

The banister rail was fitted last and was made using locally sourced Scottish Oak.

The furniture for this house in North Berwick was designed in collaboration with Matson Henderson Architects.

Client quote: “I just wanted you to know how lovely it was to get there and feel that the project was "finished".  Everything you had done over the past few weeks to make it all look so much better, with your usual attention to the smallest detail, worked fantastically well! Thank you very much indeed for all the extras - including leaving everywhere so clean and tidy for us to arrive to.  Nothing went unnoticed I can assure you.”
